This was stated in a message published by the ADF120Sec platform, launched a while ago by the Antalya diplomacy Forum, which received great attention on social media.

Bekkan explained that the Free Trade Agreement with Britain will help to remove the ambiguities and obstacles that have plagued the trade relations between Ankara and London, and will establish a solid foundation for those relations in the future.

Turkey’s Trade Minister, Rohsar Bekkan, said the Free Trade Agreement between Ankara and London is an important development point

She added that Britain is one of Turkey’s most important economic and Investment Partners and that the Free Trade Agreement came after significant efforts by both sides.

“Without the signing of the agreement, 75% of the reciprocal exports would be subject to customs taxes,» she said.

On December 29, Turkey and Britain signed a free trade agreement, days before the latter’s formal exit from the European Union.

Trade relations between the two countries amounted to 18.6 billion pounds sterling (USD 25.25 billion) in 2019. The deal is set to raise the volume of trade between the two countries and jump above the 20-billion-pound (USD 27.14 billion) barrier, with the figure to double over the next five years.
